Tom Lowes B.Ost

Sports Osteopath

Tom trained at The British School of Osteopathy in London.   His interest in injury treatment and rehabilitation began following his recovery from an ACL knee ligament reconstruction in 1996.  He previously worked as a personal trainer, which included the training of professional athletes involved in Football, Cricket and Rugby.

As an Osteopath he has worked in London alongside GP’s in an NHS Surgery, and as an external consultant for a number of UK companies, including Price Waterhouse Coopers and Pearson PLC.  He also spent a period of time in Riyadh, where he worked as Osteopathic consultant to members of the Saudi Arabian government.

His approach to treatment involves thorough clinical testing and analysis. This allows him to build a management plan that is aimed at restoring your body’s best mechanical function. This is achieved by using a combination of neuromuscular soft tissue techniques, muscle stretching and gentle manipulation. Alongside this Ultrasound Therapy and Interferential Therapy are regularly used to carefully help repair any damaged tissues.  To minimise the risk of re-injury, he places an emphasis on rehabilitation exercises and postural improvements.

Tom is a member of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM), is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine, and is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).

Tom is available at The Putney Clinic Monday to Friday.
